What makes our Spreadable Butter a hit among consumers? Health and convenience. Those happen to be the key drivers of our newest product offerings focused on making it easy for consumers to eat a little healthier every day.
Less is more
Land O'Lakes, Inc. is bringing news to the butter and spreads category with LAND O LAKES® Less Sodium Butter with Canola Oil. As the first reduced sodium product from a national brand in the entire butter and spreads category, the product provides a great opportunity to accelerate growth of our brands with key audiences.
"It may seem surprising, but it turns out that our Less Sodium Butter with Canola Oil does really well with Millennials," says Laura Dada, associate marketing manager. "You might think that it would appeal more to Boomers who are more likely to face heart disease, but we see across different food categories that it's Millennials who are more inclined to buy reduced sodium products."
If your experience with less or low sodium products has left a bad taste in your mouth, fear not. LAND O LAKES® Less Sodium Butter with Canola Oil hasn't sacrificed taste.
"Taste tests have shown that it's equivalent to our 'red top' tub butter [LAND O LAKES® Butter with Canola Oil]," says Laura.
Expanding size, not waistlines
We are also introducing a larger size of an existing product: LAND O LAKES® Light Spreadable Butter with Canola Oil. In response to consumer buying habits, we have added a 24-ounce Family Size tub (green top) to the product lineup.
"We decided to offer the Family Size Light Butter With Canola Oil due to the runaway success of our 24 oz Spreadable Butter with Canola Oil, which has quickly grown," says Laura. "After trying the product at the 8-ounce or 15-ounce size, repeat customers tend to buy larger versions of the product."
Spreading success
The two new spreadable product additions are positioned well to add to the bottom-line...but not the waistline.
If you are eager to get your hands on one or both of these new spreadable butters, they are shipping nationwide to retailers over the coming months.
