Start your leadership journey with Land O'Lakes

There’s still time to sign up for Cornerstone for Engagement—Co-op 101

A Group Of Cooperative 101 Cornerstone For Engagement Program Students

Interested in getting more involved with your cooperative and industry? Well there’s no time like the present to take the first step.

Land O’Lakes’ Cornerstone for Engagement program helps get members started on a path to developing the skills needed to lead their business and cooperative. The program is held in conjunction with the Land O’Lakes, Inc. Annual Meeting February 27 through March 1 in Minneapolis.

As part of the program, participants will have the opportunity to learn more about Land O’Lakes businesses and cooperative governance system, network with peers from across the nation and identify opportunities to get involved, all while participating in the Land O’Lakes’ Annual Meeting.

“Our family farm has always believed in the cooperative system,” says Matthew Elliott, a Kansas farmer and host of the 2017 Cornerstone for Engagement program. “Attending the sessions at Co-op 101 and meeting with young producers from other farms, ranches and dairies reinforced that belief for me. It inspired me to pursue leadership and advocacy roles not only at our local Co-op, but also at state and national levels.”

Still time to sign up

The registration deadline for this year’s program is Monday, February 6. Interested participants should be either:

  • Direct members of the cooperative (dairy or ag) or those actively affiliated with a member operation. This could include a family member or employee working on the farm; or
  • Direct producer/farmer-members, or select employees, of a Land O’Lakes member co-op.

Participants should be interested in learning more about Land O’Lakes, the co-op system and the opportunities available to get more involved.
