Land O’Lakes, Inc. will build a state-of-the-art animal feed manufacturing facility in Roanoke, Virginia, slated for completion in December 2018. The plant is a part of our strategic and focused growth in the southeast. Since November, a team has been focused on discussions with Southern States regarding Land O’Lakes purchasing their feed assets in the region.

“Unfortunately, our discussions to date have not resulted in a transaction, and, we must take immediate action to meet our capacity needs and move more quickly to serve customers who want Purina branded product in this strategic market,” says Beth Ford, Group EVP and COO.

As the new feed plant is being built, the business will serve current and future customers from product made at our existing facilities and distributed through our Pennsylvania and North Carolina warehouses, and the team will seek to add distribution capabilities with warehouses in Virginia and Kentucky.

“We are coming off a record-breaking year, and our momentum is strong,” said Beth. “Investing in this plant ensures we can continue to support the momentum of the business. I look forward to bringing our research capabilities and proven horse, cattle and other animal feed products to customers in the southeastern United States.”
